
Chandra Farley is an activist at heart and credits her parents with instilling a sense of duty to always to do what she can to advance justice and fairness. With a passion for elevating the connection between environmental justice, strong communities, and our daily lives, Chandra continues to build upon a career foundation in the design and construction industry. These intersections inform her perspective on sustainability and climate resilience.
Currently, Chandra serves as the Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Atlanta. In this role, Chandra will lead expansion of the City’s resilience and sustainability efforts through a lens of equity including implementation of the City’s 100% clean energy plan, creating the City’s first comprehensive food systems plan, delivering on waste diversion goals, and leveraging federal resources from the historic climate legislation, the Inflation Reduction Act. Prior to joining the City, Chandra led ReSolve Consulting, an energy justice consulting practice with a mission to increase the impact of energy and climate initiatives by centering equity. Chandra also founded the “Good Energy Project” with a vision to connect the transformational power of Black Women to the movement for equitable clean energy. In 2022, Chandra completed a historic run for the Georgia Public Service Commission.
Chandra is well-known as a leader in sustainability, energy, and climate justice circles. Her advocacy extends to Congress, where she has twice testified at hearings on climate change and equity. Chandra has also advised the Department of Energy, the EPA, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on the importance of prioritizing the leadership of marginalized communities to advance equity in clean energy.
Chandra is a former co-Chair of the Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice Advisory Board, and former chair of the Georgia NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Committee. she is also a graduate of the EPA’s Environmental Justice Academy, former President of the Environmental Justice Academy Alumni Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for ACEEE, Community Movement Builders, Harambee House/Citizens for Environmental Justice, Greenlink Analytics, the Just Solutions Collective, and Sol Nation. Chandra is a former board member for Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund and the People’s Justice Council/Alabama Interfaith Power & Light.
