My name is Mahi Washim, a Master’s student in Climate Science and Solutions at Northern Arizona University. I’m currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the Resilient Conservation Lab, where I contribute to climate policy research, proposal writing, and sustainability data analysis. Previously, I worked with the Gurney Lab, using machine learning to model on-road emissions from citizen science data. My academic and professional journey—spanning roles at GIZ and IUCN—has focused on climate resilience, marine biodiversity, and protected area management in Bangladesh. I have hands-on experience with GIS, remote sensing, climate data modeling, and visualization tools like Google Earth Engine and Python. I’ve worked on vulnerability assessments, habitat risk modeling, and emissions audits across both global south and U.S. contexts. My passion lies in applying data-driven solutions to address climate change, and I’m particularly interested in expanding work on interactive dashboards, deep learning models, and geospatial climate analysis for informed decision-making.
