Angela Hill is a dynamic environmental health and sustainability leader serving as Deputy Administrator for Environmental Health Services and Sustainability in Shelby County, Tennessee. In this role, she leads innovative cross-sector strategies that address climate resilience, environmental justice, and public health. Her work focuses on advancing heat mitigation, expanding community-centered sustainability initiatives, and strengthening partnerships that improve environmental outcomes in historically underserved communities. Angela has also led the successful implementation of air quality monitoring initiatives, securing and managing grant-funded projects that expand local capacity to track and respond to environmental conditions. She is known for translating complex climate challenges into actionable, data-driven solutions that protect both people and place while building trust across communities and sectors.
With more than 15 years of experience spanning parks, conservation, and environmental health, Angela brings a unique systems-level perspective to climate work. She has collaborated nationally with the National Recreation and Park Association on resilience initiatives and co-authored an article on urban heat mitigation strategies. Angela also spearheads large-scale community engagement efforts, including annual Earth Day programming and countywide tree giveaway initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and increase urban canopy.
