Katie Rosenberg was appointed Wisconsin’s inaugural Director of the Office of Environmental Justice in June 2024. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers created the office, along with the Chief Resilience Officer, after the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change made the recommendation as a way to facilitate collaboration across state agencies and engage with environmental justice advocates, communities of color, Tribal Nations, and low-income populations.
Prior to being appointed, Katie served as the mayor of Wausau, Wisconsin, where she championed clean water initiatives such as replacing all remaining public and private lead service lines and removing PFAS from the city’s municipal drinking water.
Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religious studies from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and a master’s degree in strategic communications from The George Washington University.
