Karen Burney-Green is a Chief Resilience Officer and Project Liaison with Charleston County Government. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and serves on the board for the Charleston Project Management Institute as the Vice President of Finance with a vast experience in Project Management.
Resiliency is a relatively new program, and she has been tasked to locate resources to implement strategies, administer programs and pursue funding opportunities. This will provide standards to coordinate resilience-related efforts of County departments, municipalities and adjacent jurisdictions, applicable regulatory agencies, and regional partners.
She is currently working with a consultant to perform an all-hazards vulnerability assessment. The vulnerability assessment is a huge step for resiliency in the county, and this assessment will be used as the “source” or starting point for data for all other resilience initiatives as the County works to prioritize “what to do now” and “what to do next.
Karen resides in Summerville, South Carolina and is married with three children.
